lovely

Imageguess i am still thinking of log cabin blocks…i made this wall hanging for my parents several years ago, as i was first learning about the quilt world. the colors are pleasing and went well in the living room they had at that time. hope you can see that i couched(!) yarn onto the quilt, used large ric-rac as a definition between the black and gold logs. and added beading, albiet small, but beading non the less. LOL! and last but not least, added a very thin black border so the blocks seemed to float…

i was reading earlier today about doing a “brain dump”…think i may have to do that as i am at a standstill in my life, my creative life, and my take care of me life. so…three lists need to be made so i can dream again…gonna do that…

hope this finds you all well, happy, and oh so creative…

until next time…

our new baby!

Image

yes!!! we have a new baby on the way!! and the family, all sides, are super excited!!!!! can you see the little peanut in the pic? and he’s waving hello!!

now on with the developing a new crib quilt for the little tike…hmmm… i am not sure yet. think i might need to wait on dreams. in the meantime reading, searching and researching might be the most help. i know i want to embroider the center of the blocks. maybe i should start doing that…what do you think?

anyway mommy and baby are fine. daddy, big sister and big brother are having fun since they can now feel the baby move and kick inside mommy’s tummy! so happy for them all…

did you visit your local quilt shop? we live in the boonies and do not have one that is close by, so i visited vicariously, through my FB friends and the blogs i follow…that was a blast as well!

so i am off to create…more to follow on the crib quilt …take care and keep warm or cool, depending upon where in the world you may be.

cherry blossoms on aqua

Image

the inspiration for this beauty was a candle wax melter! it is this lovely little vase with a small well in the top. enclosed is a night light bulb to provide the heat to melt the wax that is put into the well. it is a pretty shade of aqua with cherry tree limbs and blossoms arranged about the limbs. this is  a lovely piece.

anyway we had given the vase to our son and his wife a couple of years ago and they had enjoyed it very much. at their last move the new bathroom, master, is a huge room with an empty wall above the soaking tub! ah ha! perfect place for a lovely little quilt, my mind said. so i set about designing it, finding the fabrics , and then planning how to make the blossoms three dimensional!

well… it took a little work and a lot of spray starch and pressing…but…mission accomplished! and it was a lot of fun to boot!

hope you enjoy this wall hanging! and what have you made that caused your brain to work overtime?

until next time…

hot pink baby!!!

now how is that for an eye catcher?! obviously for a baby girl too!

daddy worked on cars and mom worked for the local transit district, so that is how the blocks for the parents were developed…

the mommy worked for my husband and he simply adored her so when they became pregnant nothing would do better than a custom baby quilt. and the family absolutely loved it! they had recently purchased a new home and had yet to put the nursery together, so this little pretty helped make the decisions accordingly.

baby’s initials are located in the block with the flower basket. of course in pink! the borders of the blocks are of different shades of pink hand dyes. boy do they allow the embroidery to “sing”. such a joy to put this quilt together. try something different sometime!!
